Q&A with Hooters Bartender Natalie

Hooters has been a part of “Americana” since the first restaurant opened in 1983. Since then, Hooters has not changed much, & for good reason. The casual themed establishments feature Hooters girls, wearing classic orange shorts and white tank tops, serving great drinks and food, with sports playing on televisions. Of course, the main reason for their tremendous success and continued growth is… the Hooters girls!

Hooters girl Natalie tells us why the Gaslamp Hooters is so successful. Last May, Natalie graduated from SDSU with a degree in Anthropology and Political Science. While working full-time, she’s studying for the GRE, pointing towards her masters in Anthropology. She’s a “goofy and spunky” person, who strikes a balance by working hard and providing great service!

VM: What is the best thing about working at Hooters in the Gaslamp?
NATALIE: The Hooters girls, of course! I’ve worked at Hooters for almost 2 years, and can honestly say that some of the girls are my closest friends. At times, we have so much fun together and with customers, it doesn’t even seem like work! That, and the fried pickles!

VM: With so many sports bars downtown, what sets Hooters apart?
NATALIE: Hooters is a destination restaurant, unlike any other. It can’t really be replicated – people come to Hooters for a fun atmosphere with a friendly staff and that is what we strive for. This sets us apart from other places, even in a busy area like downtown San Diego.

VM: What are your most popular specials?
NATALIE:We have tons of specials, including our daily happy hour from 3-6 pm. However, the most popular is All You Can Eat wings, every Tuesday! People just love our wings! Also, we just launched a very popular late night happy hour, starting daily at 10 pm, featuring awesome drink prices.

VM: What is your clientele like?
NATALIE: We have a great location in the Gaslamp, so we cater to a wide variety of guests. Our clientele ranges from families, couples, to guys who just love our wings – it is definitely a fun place for everyone! With our late night happy hour & weekends, we bring in the bar scene too.

VM: What is the best reason to stop by Hooters?
NATALIE: Because Gaslamp Hooters is home to the hottest Hooter girls!

Stopped into the gaslamp hooters to watch my dodgers battle the pads for last place.. I was impressed with the open layout with dozens of overhead tv’s – not a bad seat in the house. I was with a large crew, kinda rowdy, but the servers were all super friendly and cute! And let’s not forget the food – i actually only had the wings, but my luves them!
